Kum & Go Reopens Ankeny Store With Fanfare

ANKENY, Iowa -- To celebrate the grand re-opening of a rebuilt Kum & Go store at 1025 East 1st Street here, the West Des Moines, Iowa-based convenience store chain is holding a weekend's worth of special promotions.

The new store was a complete rebuild, featuring a new building, pumps, digital pump toppers and more, a company official told CSNews Online via Twitter.

The festivities took place May 21-23, and gave customers to the store the chance to win free gas for a year, according to the retailer's Web site. The new location also offered free 32-ounce fountain drinks (one per customer) all weekend. In addition, customers to the location could purchase fresh, made-in-store pizza by the slice for $1, and then received a coupon for a free Redbox rental.

On the first day of the celebration, the new Kum & Go store gave away free 12-ounce coffees and cappuccinos from 7 to 9 a.m. In addition, visitors to the store that morning could meet Brett Moffitt, a Joe Gibbs Racing Development driver and Johnston, Iowa native.
