    International News: Seven-Eleven Japan Opens Green Store

    7-Eleven parent company plans to add 100 eco-friendly stores to its portfolio.

    KYOTO -- Seven-Eleven Japan Co. recently opened a cutting-edge, eco-friendly convenience store here, according to a report by the Mainichi Daily News.

    The new "Seven-Eleven Kyoto Shusse Inari" store in the Kamigyo Ward is designed to consume less electricity through the use of a solar power system, light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and skylights. There is also a charger for electric vehicles, the report stated.

    The store is expected to use 30 percent less electricity on average than other Seven-Eleven stores, the newspaper reported. The company is planning to increase its number of environmentally conscious stores to 100 in the future.
