Inside Walgreens' First D.C. Flagship Store

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Late last month, Walgreens celebrated the opening of its first "Well Experience" flagship store in the nation's capital. Situated at the corner of 7th Street and H Street, this location marks the continued rollout of the chain's innovative store format that aims to transform the traditional drugstore into a new health and daily living destination.

“Every day, more than six million customers and patients visit us for convenient access to innovative products, as well as health and wellness services to help them get, stay and live well,” said Mark Wagner, Walgreens' president of operations and community management. “Together, our offerings demonstrate how Walgreens is transforming daily living, pharmacy and health care experiences nationwide.”

Like Walgreens' other Well Experience flagship stores in Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York City and Puerto Rico, the D.C. store features an enhanced layout with hundreds of fresh food items, including produce and on-the-go meal options. The store also offers a Coca-Cola Freestyle fountain machine; self-serve frozen yogurt; an Up Market Café serving barista-prepared coffees and espressos; and a built-to-order juice and smoothie bar.

Just two days after the D.C. store debuted on March 21, Walgreens opened its second New York City Well Experience flagship store in the iconic Empire State Building.
