Scotsman Indulges Fans With New 'Nug Locator' iPhone App

VERNON HILLS, Ill. -- Fans of Scotsman nugget ice, which is billed as the "original chewable ice, can now find locations serving it with a new iPhone application released by Scotsman Ice Systems. By downloading the "Nug Locator" app, ice chewers can instantly view a list of venues serving nugget ice near their location using GPS tracking, or can search by inputting a zip code.

The free app is available for download from the Apple App Store or at www.LuvtheNug.com. Upon opening the app, users are given the choice of locating the nearest venues by GPS or zip code. Based on their choice, a list of locations appears. When one is selected, the address is shown using Google Maps.

"Fans of chewable ice now have a way to locate authentic nugget ice from anywhere using their iPhones," stated Terry Toth, marketing communications manager for Scotsman Ice Systems. "Ice chewers crave Scotsman nugget ice over other ice forms because it is softer, chewier and retains the flavor of the beverage."

The "Nug Locator" app is a part of the "Luv the Nug" campaign, a digital community aimed at uniting passionate ice chewers everywhere. In addition to the iPhone app and community website, nugget ice fans can connect with each other on the Luv the Nug Facebook page and on Twitter @LuvtheNug. In addition, the Nug Truck, a Luv-the-Nug-branded truck serving nugget ice at locations across the country this year, tweets its adventures on Twitter @TheNugTruck.
