Gilbarco and Outcast Media Expand Applause TV Coverage

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Gilbarco Veeder-Root and digital media partner Outcast Media Inc. announced the nationwide expansion of Applause TV with Outcast, an interactive digital media system integrated into the dispenser that delivers full motion video and on-demand couponing, the companies reported. The initial program launched in the top-20 markets in October 2010, and with a significant demand from retailers and advertisers to accelerate distribution, the program is now available nationwide.

"We've seen tremendous interest in Applause TV since launching it in select markets late last year," Mark Williams, marketing manager, fuel dispenser applications at Gilbarco Veeder-Root, said in a released statement. "Applause TV has proven to build customer loyalty and drive sales and traffic; with its low upfront investment and new nationwide access, more retailers than ever before can benefit."

Applause TV allows retailers to entertain and inform their customers while providing them with reasons to come inside the store for higher margin purchases. The system delivers third party national advertising, retailer advertising, news and entertainment content on the large color screens embedded within the gas pump, along with consumer interaction and on-demand coupons at the pump. Fully-managed programming includes content from CBS, ABC, Comedy Central, Warner Bros. Pictures and over 20 other premier content providers, as well as community-oriented content, including AMBER Alerts, the companies reported.

"We installed the Applause TV system at our site in March to help drive customers into our new convenience store," said owner Zareh Samurkashium of Grand Martco Inc. "The system has made such a positive impact on our customer base and in-store sales at this first site that we will be adding it to our other locations in the coming months."

"Based on the initial success of Applause TV and strong demand from both retailiers and advertisers, we're thrilled to work with Gilbarco to expand the platform nationally," Matthew Stoudt, CEO of Outcast Media, said in a released statement. "This engaging, interactive solution enriches consumer experience by providing compelling content and immediate access to the brand offerings being promoted on the network."
