FusionPoint Express Provides IP Functionality with No Extra Cost

RESTON, Va. — Transaction Network Services Inc., a leading provider of business-critical network and data communications services for transaction-oriented applications, announced the availability of its FusionPoint Express by TNS solution for the convenience store and petroleum markets.

FusionPoint Express by TNS provides a secure path for legacy dial and serial point-of-sale (POS) devices over internet-protocol (IP) networks to major card processors, thereby reducing the cost, complexity and duration of POS communications.

"FusionPoint Express by TNS is an extension of our FusionPoint product line and will enable IP migration of data transaction services at convenience stores and service stations across the country," said Heidi Goff, executive vice president and general manager, TNS Point-of-Service division. "TNS is successfully offering this simple, self-installed, plug-and-play solution to the market for improved communications efficiency and faster transaction response time."

FusionPoint Express by TNS eliminates the need for merchants to replace current ATM and POS devices in order to migrate to IP communication, and utilizes merchants' existing broadband connectivity regardless of provider. To ensure business continuity, the solution includes dial back-up support in case of broadband service interruption, as well as split dial support for up to six destinations. Additionally, FusionPoint Express by TNS offers real-time device status reporting and Web-based order entry through TNSOnline.

"TNS has found the solution to meet the growing demand for IP conversion at the point-of-sale—FusionPoint Express by TNS not only meets this need for our convenience store and merchant customers but does so without incurring hard and soft costs associated with replacing legacy equipment," said Don Bumgardner, vice president, convenience stores and petroleum, TNS.

Demonstrations of FusionPoint Express will be available at NACStech 2006 this week in Nashville, Tenn.

Also at NACSTech, Dresser Wayne, a pioneer in the retail fueling industry, announced general availability of its Ovation fuel dispenser with the award-winning iX Technology Platform inside. Branded the Ovation iX, the product is already in operation at select retailers—including some locations of The Home Depot—and is now available for order industrywide.

Dresser Wayne's state-of-the-art iX Technology Platform is built on the Microsoft Windows CE operating system and the Microsoft .NET Framework. The iX Technology Platform can perform demanding fuel dispenser activities while offering additional features designed to help retailers drive sales, lower costs and improve accuracy and uptime.
Dresser Wayne currently offers three modules for the iX Technology Platform, all designed to benefit fuel consumers and fuel retailers:

-- iX Media, which has an integrated, in-dispenser, 10.4-inch color display to allow retailers to show customized, full-motion video promotions. iX Media also features a built-in speaker and site-specific coupon creation capability.

-- iSense remote management system, which can automatically diagnose, troubleshoot and, in some cases, actually fix equipment problems—often even before they occur.

-- iDPOS™ in-dispenser point-of-sale system guarantees uninterrupted fuel and merchandise sales by independently managing round-the-clock transactions and credit card sales—even if the in-store point-of-sale device is off-line.

The Home Depot was among the first customers to deploy the combined iX Technology Platform and Ovation fuel dispenser in its convenience store pilot project in Nashville.
