ExxonMobil Goes Mobile with Station Locator

FAIRFAX, Va. -- ExxonMobil launched its Exxon Mobil Fuel Finder application for the Android operating system. The latest application in the company's mobile tool box is a version of its online station locator.

The application, which can be downloaded for free from the Android Market, gives drivers real-time maps, driving directions and station information for nearly 10,000 Exxon and Mobil locations across the country.

"This new app continues our record of delivering what consumers want and need," said Chris Mahoney, U.S. branded wholesale manager for ExxonMobil Fuels Marketing. "Since the iPhone and iPad version of this app was introduced in November 2010, it's had over 26,000 downloads. Our customers have been very interested in when the same technology would be available for their Androids, and now they can more easily and more efficiently find an Exxon or Mobil station no matter where they are."

Powered by GPS technology to identify a driver's location, the application identifies the nearest station on an interactive Google map. In addition, an advanced filtering feature distinguishes stations by hours, fuel sold, pay at the pump, convenience store, Speedpass, car wash and service bay. This feature allows customers to seek out specific services prior to their arrival.

ExxonMobil is also in the development stage of a similar mobile-friendly version that can be used on all Web-enabled phones, including BlackBerry smartphones. It is expected to be available later this year.
