Cumberland Farms' SmartPay Check-Link Hits $20M Savings

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — Cumberland Farms Inc.'s SmartPay Check-Link payment program has saved customers $20 million on gas since its launch in January 2013.

Free to enroll, the program is available as both a card and mobile app, and automatically allows users to save 10 cents per gallon every day at Cumberland Farms locations in the Northeast and Florida. SmartPay can also be used for in-store purchases.

"We are extremely pleased with the performance of our SmartPay program and that total savings on gas for our customers has jumped from $10 million to $20 million in just eight months," said Ari Haseotes, CEO of Cumberland Farms. "We look forward to the continued expansion of this convenient and budget-friendly way for our loyal customers to save at the pump."

One main reason why savings have risen significantly recently is the fact that enrollments in the SmartPay program increased 30 percent in the past six months, according the Framingham-based retailer.

Cumberland Farms is celebrating the $20 million-savings milestone by launching a Facebook promotion. From Jan. 23-25, customers can enter by calculating their projected 2015 coffee savings using the retailer's Coffee Savings Calculator, and then post this figure as a comment on Cumberland Farms' official $20 million saved announcement post on the social media site.

Twenty winners will be named, each of whom will receive a $20 gift card to Cumberland Farms.

The contest can be viewed at www.facebook.com/cumberlandfarms.

Family owned Cumberland Farms Inc. operates nearly 600 convenience stores in eight states.
