Atlas Oil Campaign Says #Respecttherig

TAYLOR, Mich. — Atlas Oil Co. launched #respecttherig, a new safety-related social media campaign that brings awareness to safe driving around big rigs. The campaign features short videos of Atlas drivers giving safe driving tips for sharing the road with big rigs.

The campaign is designed around statistics supporting that a majority of truck-driving accidents are caused by drivers of passenger vehicles who drive unsafely around big rigs. Every day, Atlas Oil has more than 200 trucks on the road and according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, there are approximately 11 million trucks in total on the road in the United States on any given day.

“We promote a safety culture at Atlas,” said Michael Evans, president of Atlas Oil. “Our drivers are trained and certified in the safety regulations that the Department of Transportation requires of our big rig drivers. It is important for the drivers of passenger vehicles to understand that their actions on the road affect not only our team, but all big rig driving teams as well as other drivers sharing the road. We hope this campaign generates awareness and support for all drivers, regardless of industry.”

Atlas invites other big rig drivers, trucking associations and other organizations to join the campaign by using the hashtag #respecttherig on their social media platforms, as well as visiting its blog at www.atlasoil.com/Blog/Respect-The-Rig

Taylor, Mich.-based Atlas Oil Co. is a national fuel supply, logistics and services company.
