7-Eleven to Offer In-Store Rent Bill Pay

DALLAS -- Consumers can now pay rent bills at 7-Eleven Inc. stores thanks to a new partnership between PayNearMe and AppFolio.

According to AOL Tech, PayNearMe, a cash-based payments network, and AppFolio, a property management software maker, allows tenants to pay for rent via traditional paper billing, online bill pay and mobile platforms at 8,200 supported 7-Eleven and ACE Cash Express stores.

A renter simply needs to take a unique barcode they receive from their landlord to any of the 8,200 locations and then pays in cash at the register. The payment is subsequently immediately posted to the tenant's account, the news outlet reported.

PayNearMe has many other partnerships, including ones with Greyhound, Progreso Financiero and Amazon.com.

Santa Barbara, Calif.-based AppFolio is a startup company backed by $30 million in funding and was founded by former Expertcity/CitrixOnline engineers.

7-Eleven Inc. has its own partnership with Greyhound that allows U.S. convenience store customers to reserve bus tickets online or over the phone and pay for them in cash at their local store via PayNearMe.
