Valero Raises $1.9 million for Children’s Miracle Network

SAN ANTONIO -- Valero Corner Stores presented Christus Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital with a $425,000 donation this week as part of the c-store chain’s annual fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network.

Valero and its customers raised nearly $1.9 million in contributions to be spread over 31 children’s hospitals where the c-store has retail locations -- states include Texas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Wyoming -- the San Antonio Business Journal reported.

The hospitals will use the much-needed funds to provide charity care, fund research and education programs and purchase life-saving equipment that will assist 17 million children each year, the magazine noted.

Valero, owned and operated by Valero Energy Corp., manufacturer and marketer of transportation fuels, petrochemical products and renewable power, has been involved with the Children’s Miracle Network for the past 15 years. Valero retail employees asked patrons to donate to its fundraising efforts by purchasing a balloon-shaped card for one dollar or by contributing money into a canister, the San Antonio Business Journal stated.
