Three C-store Chains Add New Stores
NATIONAL REPORT -- Two convenience store chains opened the doors on new locations, while another held a ground-breaking ceremony for a future location.
Tedeschi Food Shops opened its newest location at 72 Squire Road in Revere, Mass. This marks the chain's third c-store in Revere. To celebrate the occasion, Tedeschi plans to have a ribbon-cutting ceremony and has invited Mayor Daniel Rizzo to be on hand during the event on Dec. 5
The new location offers a wide variety of items, including TD's Deli lines of sandwiches, wraps, and salads.
"We have been privileged with the opportunity to serve the Revere community for nearly 23 years," said Peter Tedeschi, the c-store chain's president and CEO. "We've built a reputation for providing our customers with convenience shopping while delivering value, and we're excited to be able to serve them even better with the addition of our newest store."
Also celebrating new store openings is Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores. The c-store operator recently opened two new locations, one in Williston, N.D., at Highway 2 and 42nd Street, and another at Interstate 30, exit 213, in Leary, Texas.
The Williston location features Chester's Chicken, 115 truck parking spaces, five showers and bulk diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) at the pump.
"Williston has some long-haul traffic, but our decision to build there is based on the needs of local haulers, the change in the population base and the huge amount of temporary assignment workers in town," said Rick Shuffield, Love's director of real estate.
As for the location in Leary, it features McDonald's and Subway restaurants, 100 truck parking spaces, five showers and a game room.
In addition, yesterday, TravelCenters of America LLC (TA), held a groundbreaking ceremony for its newest location, expected to open in the first half of 2013. The Petro Stopping Centers site is located at 3001 Grant St. in Gary, Ind. On-hand at the 28.6-acre site yesterday were members of TA's senior management, and Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson.
Once open, the Gary travel center will offer 340 truck parking spaces, an Iron Skillet restaurant, 15 diesel lanes with DEF at the pump, 15 showers, a Taco Bell/Pizza Hut quick-service restaurant, a fitness room, a laundry facility and a Verizon UltraMobile store.
"I'm very happy about the groundbreaking for the new Petro location in Gary," said Thomas O'Brien, president and CEO of TA. "We are thrilled to be able to bring a brand new, state-of-the-art, full-service travel center to the professional driving population and city of Gary."
