Shell Partners with AIMS

HOUSTON -- Shell Oil Co. said it has completed the development of Shell and Texaco XML fuel price notification interfaces for its U.S. branded marketers. The technology infrastructure for the interface was designed by Monroe, La.-based AIMS Inc.

By implementing the interface Shell and Texaco marketers can download rack price data directly from Shell's website. This data is then imported into their accounting software. Manual entry of this data can be time consuming and is subject to costly human error. In a time of razor thin margins, accurate fuel price data is a must.

The fuel price file is acquired via Shell's Alliance Online portal and e-mail. There is a onetime configuration of cross-references where each product and terminal combination is assigned a COMPAS pickup point and inventory item. A report can be run to confirm that all references have been configured. Fuel prices are then posted directly into the vendor price file, the companies said.
