NACS Executive Committee Elected

ATLANTA -- During the board of directors meeting at NACS Show 2007, held at the Georgia World Congress Center last week, the association announced the election of its 2007-08 executive committee. This included the appointment of Richard Oneslager, president and CEO of Denver-based Balmar Petroleum/First Hand Management LLC, to the position of chairman. Oneslager also chairs the NACS executive committee, which provides strategic direction and financial oversight, the association stated.

Also named to the executive committee were:
 
-- Treasurer: Sonja Hubbard, CEO of Texarkana, Texas-based E-Z Mart Stores Inc.;

-- Vice Chairman of Member Services: Jeff Miller, president of Norfolk, Va.-based Miller Oil Co. Inc.;

-- Vice Chairman of Research and Technology: Greg Parker, president of Savannah-based The Parker Cos.;

-- Vice Chairman of NACSPAC: Alvin New, president and CEO of San Angelo, Texas-based Town & Country Food Stores Inc.;

-- NACS Vice Chairman of Convention and Events: Jay Ricker, president of Anderson, Ind.-based Ricker Oil Co.; and

-- NACS Vice Chairman of Government Relations: Tom Robinson, CEO of San Jose, Calif.-based Robinson Oil Corp.
  
Oneslager previously spent time in NACS positions, including one term as treasurer and two terms as vice chairman of research and technology, the association stated. He founded Balmar Management in 1995, and through its retail branch -- First Hand Management -- currently operates more than 30 c-stores in Denver and Portland, Ore.
 
In the role of treasurer, Hubbard is responsible for overseeing the association's financial plan, according to the association. Her company, E-Z Mart Stores, operates more than 300 stores in Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.
 
Miller will oversee the association's member services board committee, which sets the strategic direction for NACS with regard to retail-membership value. Miller Oil Co. operates more than 50 Miller Marts and Miller's Neighborhood Markets, along with an additional 80 dealer sites in Virginia and Florida, the association stated.

Parker, as vice chairman of research and technology, will manage the NACS research and technology board committee, which directs NACS' research and development initiatives and programs to promote the continued competition of the channel, according to NACS. His company owns and operates 23 retail stores in southeast Georgia and an oil jobbership, which distributes BP, Chevron and Supron, its proprietary brand of gasoline.

As NACS vice chairman of NACSPAC, New is responsible for the industry’s political action committee. Town & Country Food Stores operates 158 convenience stores in west Texas, central Texas and eastern New Mexico, according to the association.

Ricker, elected vice chairman of convention and events, will oversee activities of the NACS convention committee, which manages the development and implementation of NACS events, including the NACS Show, the association noted. Ricker Oil Co. operates 30 convenience retail locations in Indiana, as well as a petroleum distributorship.
 
Ricker has been a member of the NACS board of directors since 2000 and during that time, has served two terms as NACS vice chairman of industry relations, and is a member of the government relations board committee and the NACS supplier board.
 
As NACS' vice chairman of government relations, Robinson is responsible for the association's government relations board committee, which directs the government relations activities of NACS and represents the industry on legislative and regulatory issues. Robinson's company operates 32 Rotten Robbie stores throughout the greater San Francisco Bay area.
