Murphy Oil Signs Agreement With Western Union

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Murphy Oil USA Inc. will offer the Western Union GoCash service, a new U.S. in-lane money transfer service from Western Union, and selectively offer Money Transfer by Phone, across 1,055 Murphy USA gas stations and Murphy Express convenience stores in 21 states, the company reported.

"Customers turn to Murphy USA and Murphy Express for convenience, value and quality," Alex Alexandrou, senior manager of retail programs at Murphy USA, said in a released statement. "We are constantly looking for ways to provide new quality products and services to our customers while optimizing speed of transaction and customer service. Through our relationship with Western Union, customers will now have access to a leading and reputable global money transfer service provider to fulfill their money transfer, money order and bill payment needs."

The agreement builds upon Western Union's go-to-market strategy in the United States, and complements consumer experience by giving them the convenience of being able to send a domestic or global money transfer while shopping at Murphy USA and Murphy Express convenience store locations. And consumers also will have the ability to purchase money order services at select Murphy locations, the company reported.

With the GoCash service, consumers will have the option to select any of three amounts $50, $100 and $200. GoCash can be purchased for both domestic and international money transfers, and the sender will need to complete the transaction over the phone through a Western Union customer service representative and provide the money-transfer information to the receiver, according to the vendor.

Western Union announced last December an agreement to offer the Western Union GoCash service through InComm.
