Former QuickChek VP Schaninger Starts Consulting Firm

NATIONAL REPORT — John Schaninger may have stepped down from QuickChek Corp. but he has not stepped away from the industry.

The convenience store executive has launched The Schaninger Group, a retail consulting firm focused on marketing strategy and planning, foodservice management, advertising and media planning, and store planning and layout.

According to Schaninger, his group will use decades of experience and knowledge in the convenience industry to specialize in custom designed and collaborative strategies, plans, and programs for convenience retailers.

"I am absolutely thrilled to begin this new adventure, working with retailers to achieve long-term traffic, sales, loyalty and profits, and get to the next level," he said.

Schaninger served as vice president and sales marketing at QuickChek, a Whitehouse Station, N.J.-based retail chain. During his 38-year tenure at the convenience retailer, he held several positions, including assistant manager, district leader and Region 1 vice president of operations.

He left the company earlier this year to pursue other interests.
