FMI Announces New Show Schedule

ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Food Marketing Institute (FMI) released more details this week detailing its new show rotation and venue schedule, including holding its main booth show during even-numbered years beginning in 2008, according to a report by Progressive Grocer.

As previously scheduled, the FMI Show plus MARKETECHNICS will take place in Chicago in May of 2007. After that the shows will move to Las Vegas in 2008 and begin an alternating year rotation with a new Leadership Education Forum, according to FMI. The new Leadership Education Forum will launch in Dallas in May of 2009, the report stated.

By holding the traditional FMI Show on the even-numbered years, it accommodates equipment vendors that asked FMI to be sensitive to an existing national equipment show already being held in the odd-numbered years, the trade group said.

"Combining the FMI May Show with MARKETECHNICS starting in 2007 and continuing in 2008 creates a singular opportunity for the entire industry to connect with their peers, gain access to the industry's most comprehensive exhibit floor and take advantage of unique educational opportunities," said Tim Hammonds, FMI's president and CEO, in a written statement. "This will be particularly valuable to our independent operators who cannot attend multiple shows each year. Our new Leadership Education Forum will help the industry develop the leadership talent we will need for the future and will serve as an ongoing showcase for FMI's signature research projects."

The event dates are as follows:
-- May 6-8, 2007: Chicago, McCormick Place -- FMI Show plus MARKETECHNICS
-- May 5-7, 2008: Las Vegas, Mandalay Bay -- FMI Show plus MARKETECHNICS
-- May 4-6, 2009: Dallas, Hyatt Regency -- FMI Leadership Education Forum followed by:
-- May 6-8, 2009: Dallas, Dallas Convention Center -- MARKETECHNICS
