C-Store Chains Race for Business

ANKENY, Iowa, and Bristol, Tenn. -- Continuing its commitment to grassroots motorsports, Casey's General Stores will again be the title sponsor of the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) National Tour for the 2009 racing season. Casey's also will continue as title sponsor of the Hunt for the USMTS National Championship and be the official convenience store of the USMTS, WhoWon.com reported.

"In the midst of what has been referred to as the worst economy in nearly a century, we are both elated and humbled to have the support from Casey’s General Stores again for 2009," USMTS president Todd Staley said in the report. "This is especially great news for both the drivers and fans of the USMTS."

For the fourth straight season, the Hunt for the USMTS Casey's General Stores National Championship will crown the USMTS National Champion. Eighteen events make up the Hunt for 2009, with all single-day events paying $3,000 to win, the report stated.

Fans will be able to pick up coupons at area Casey's stores good for $2 off grandstand admission at most USMTS Casey's General Stores National Tour events.

Casey’s General Stores and its associated vendors will once again have a direct impact on USMTS drivers by becoming the primary sponsor of several USMTS teams during the Hunt for the USMTS Casey's General Stores National Championship. Each driver will utilize a branded driving suit during their sponsorship period and each racecar will be professionally detailed with the latest vehicle wrap technology to give a bright, multi-colored and stand-out appearance, according to WhoWon.com.

"Over these past few years, we've been fortunate to work with both local employees and management personnel at Casey’s General Stores," said USMTS Communications and Marketing Director Jeff Nun. "We've witnessed first-hand their dedication to their customers and vendors, and it's this dedication that has made Casey's the leader in their industry. It's an honor to be associated with Casey's, and a huge responsibility for us to produce events that are worthy of carrying the Casey's General Stores name and logo."

Casey’s General Stores owns and operates more than 1,470 c-stores in nine Midwestern states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Most Casey’s operate in towns with populations less than 5,000 -- the same communities where the majority of USMTS fans, drivers and their families reside.

The USMTS Casey's General Stores National Tour springs back into action next weekend with the annual trek to the Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb., for the 6th Annual Nebraska Spring Thaw, the report stated.

In related news, Bristol Motor Speedway reached agreement with Fas Mart, naming the c-store chain a new partner during major event weekends. Fans in town for NASCAR races and the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals will be able to find convenience items without having to leave the campgrounds, BristolDragway.com reported.

"Fas Mart is proud to continue our tradition of motorsports and raceway sponsorship support with the announcement of our newest partnership as official partner of Bristol Motor Speedway," said Fas Mart President and CEO Dave McComas. "This creates exciting opportunities for Fas Mart's valued customers and race fans with Ultimate Race Fan NASCAR ticket giveaways, discount event tickets and an on-site convenience store during major race events".

Additionally, Fas Mart has become the title sponsor of Bristol's extremely popular Street Fights series, as well as Thunder Valley Mayhem. Fas Mart Street Fights events provide the chance for anyone to challenge the famous Thunder Valley quarter-mile, from family mini-vans to tricked-out tuners, according to BristolDragway.com.

"Our partnership with Bristol is just one more way Fas Mart is making ‘Faster Made Better' really come to life," stated McComas, noting the new three-year agreement includes sponsorship of an action-packed annual schedule of events, including 18 nights of street-legal drag racing with this year's Fas Mart Street Fights, opening March 28, and Fas Mart Thunder Valley Mayhem, featuring jet dragsters, freestyle motocross, the metal-eating Megasaurus and more on May 30.

"We have worked with Fas Mart in the past and have a wonderful partnership with them," said Jeff Byrd, Bristol Motor Speedway president and general manager. "We look forward to strengthening our relationship with Fas Mart and we encourage our fans and racers to stop by to fill up on the way to the track."

The Fas Mart and Shore Stop chains are members of the GPM Investments’ family of convenience stores, operating more than 210 stores in Tennessee and Virginia.
