Best-selling Author to Keynote Future Forum

New Haven, Conn. -- Coming to bookstores tomorrow (Tuesday) is the latest progressive management tome by consultant Bruce Tulgan, head of RainmakerThinking, Inc., based here.

Tulgan's 16th book is called, "It's Okay To Be the Boss: The Step-By-Step Guide to Becoming the Manager Your Employees Need." Designed to counter what he calls "empowerment nonsense," Tulgan's new book asserts that managers should manage.

"There is an epidemic of undermanagement in this country," Tulgan told the New Haven Register. "There is not enough management training," adds the consultant, who conducts seminars for some of the nation's biggest companies, from IBM, Wal-Mart and Shell Oil to AARP, YMCA and Goodwill Industries. Later this month, Tulgan will be keynote speaker at Convenience Store News' 2007 Future Forum, March 26-28 at the posh Renaissance Vinoy Resort in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Tulgan, who in 1995 published the best-seller, "Managing Generation X," will discuss themes from his books, including how to provide daily guidance, feedback and support to employees.

In addition, other noted experts and industry executives will focus on how to gain market dominance with winning strategies, passionate people and unrelenting customer focus. Additional sessions are entitled:
-- Competing Effectively to Recruit and Retain the Best People
