7-Eleven Stores in West Virginia Join Recycling Game

CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- Prima Marketing 7-Eleven is partnering with PepsiCo to place the beverage company's Dream Machine recycling kiosks available at its 13 locations in Charleston.

"At Prima Marketing 7-Eleven, we are extremely pleased and honored to be a part of PepsiCo's Dream Machine recycling program," said Jeff Kramer, the chief executive officer of Prima Marketing. "The program represents a powerful commitment to the environment, and I'm looking forward to providing my customers with a simple and convenient solution to recycling their bottles and cans."

As a result of the recycling initiative, Prima Marketing 7-Eleven becomes the first in the state to offer its convenience store customers access to a recycling option while on the go. "Anyone who has sought to recycle anything knows having access to a recycling program is half the battle," said Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin. "West Virginians are keenly aware of the need to increase recycling and we welcome this new opportunity to help our citizens move forward with keeping our Mountain State beautiful."

The governor helped Prima Marketing 7-Eleven launch the Dream Machine initiative on Monday. Charleston Mayor Danny Jones was also on hand to welcome the program to the capital city. "The City if Charleston is always pleased to participate in programs that promote recycling," Jones said. "A lot of people in Charleston regularly recycle everything they can, and I hope this initiative will increase the number of people recycling and the amount of materials that will not end up in our landfill."

PepsiCo created the Dream Machine recycling program -- which launched in Earth Day 2010 -- with Waster Management and Keep America Beautiful. The kiosks are computerized receptacles that include a personal reward system, powered by Greenopolis, which allows consumers to earn points for every bottle or can they recycle in the kiosk. Those points can then be redeemed for local discounts on entertainment, dining and travel by visiting www.greenopolis.com. In addition, the more bottles and cans people recycle in Dream Machines, the more support PepsiCo will provide to the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV), a national program offering free, experiential training in entrepreneurship and small business management to post-9/11 U.S. veterans with disabilities.

"We are so pleased that Prima Marketing 7-Eleven has decided to partner with the Dream Machine program to make recycling kiosks available to consumers," said Jeremy Cage, senior vice president of innovation and insights at PepsiCo and head of the Dream Machine recycling initiative. "By recycling in a Dream Machine, those who shop at Prima Marketing 7-Eleven locations can earn rewards and help make a real difference for our planet and in the lives of disabled U.S. veterans."
