7-Eleven Races Into Summer

DALLAS -- May starts the countdown to the Indianapolis 500 and 7-Eleven is shifting into high gear. More than 5,300 U.S. 7-Eleven stores will be decked out in a checkered racing theme to support Team 7-Eleven drivers Michael Andretti (No. 7 car) and Tony Kanaan (No. 11 car) in the 87th Indianapolis 500.

The largest one-day sports event in the world, Indy 500 promises to be an especially exciting event for Team 7-Eleven as racing legend Michael Andretti takes the wheel for the last time as a professional driver, and team partner Tony Kanaan heads to the race after one win, two pole positions and a crash during the Indy Japan 300 that resulted in a broken wrist.

"The Indy 500 is a great way for 7-Eleven to start the summer with the Big Gulp logo front and center on this year's Team 7-Eleven cars," said Russ Klein, 7-Eleven Inc. vice president and chief marketing officer.

Other sponsors on the No. 11 car include PepsiCo Inc. brands Pepsi, Gatorade, Doritos, Lay's and Tropicana; Ruiz Foods, supplier of the 7-Eleven Go-Go Taquitos product; Jack Link's Beef Jerky; Kraft brands Planters, Oscar Meyer, Altoids and Oreo's; and Energizer.

7-Eleven also will be the presenting sponsor of ABC's coverage of this year's Indianapolis 500, providing racing fans with the opportunity to not only watch the Team 7-Eleven cars racing the oval track, but an up-close and personal view of what Andretti will be seeing on the track. To record his final race, an in-car video camera will broadcast live shots to the television audience during the race.

Throughout the remainder of the IRL racing season, 7-Eleven will display the No. 11 showcar at local store events and will partner with local radio stations in each race market to offer consumers a chance to win race credentials, grandstand seating for qualifying and race and Team 7-Eleven hospitality.
