    People on the Move: Fuels Institute, Alto-Shaam & Broaster

    Cybera, Carpigiani, GreenPrint and others also change up their rosters.

    NATIONAL REPORT — Retailers, wholesalers and suppliers in the convenience store industry are only as good as their management teams and employees. In this special roundup, Convenience Store News runs down the most recent executive changes, new hires, promotions and people achievements happening in the industry.


    Alto-Shaam added several new employees to its sales, marketing and culinary teams.

    For sales, Lucy McQuillan was hired as executive vice president of global sales, Gabriel Estrella Talentti was hired as sales director of Middle East and Africa, and Joe Prowell was hired as a business development specialist.

    McQuillan will oversee the domestic and international sales team and be responsible for the support and execution of the commercial strategy for Alto-Shaam. Talentti will be responsible for Alto-Shaam's sales growth and development through independent dealers, distributors, direct customers and foodservice consultants, and will lead the new Alto-Shaam office based in Dubai. Prowell will assist in demand creation alongside his counterpart on the East Coast and offer sales support to dealers within his region.

    In marketing, Jody Rahoy was hired as marketing manager, while for the culinary team Richard Rockwell was hired as a corporate chef.

    Rahoy will actively lead the company's demand creation efforts through marketing, advertising, web development, communications and public relations. Rockwell, who spent time with the Alto-Shaam culinary team at the 2015 National Restaurant Association Show, will now support the culinary seminars at Alto-Shaam's Culinary Institute. He will also contribute to menu development and provide ongoing customer education.

    Broaster Co.

    Broaster Co. brought on Sharon Schwengler as its new national accounts manager. She will focus on multi-unit national account development, promoting the profitability of serving Genuine Broaster Chicken and the Broaster Express branded food program.

    Schwengler has more than 20 years of experience in the field of commercial foodservice. She previously worked with Pepsico Foodservice, Libby Inc., Nemco Food Equipment and Standex Intl. Corp.


    Penny Klingler has taken on the role of senior vice president of key accounts for the North America division of Carpigiani, an Ali Group company.

    Klingler's background in the commercial foodservice equipment industry includes four years with Alco Standard Corp.’s dispensing division, leading the beverage dispensing product support teams; three years with Sweden Freezer as vice president of customer services; and 25 years with H.C. Duke & Son/Electro Freeze where she served as vice president of sales and most recently directed its international sales expansion as senior vice president of international sales.


    Cybera's board of directors appointed Andrew Lev, a security technology executive, as the company's CEO and director. Lev brings more than 25 years of technology experience to the company. Most recently, he served as chief product officer for NTT Com Security, where he was responsible for all aspects of the managed and professional services product portfolio.

    Lev's career also includes co-founding KSR/Neohapsis and MetaTV, which were acquired by Cisco and Comcast, respectively.

    In addition, Cybera announced that Sumeru Equity Partners — along with existing investor Adams Street and company management — has made a strategic investment in the company in support of its growth and product innovation strategy. As a part of the investment, Sumeru Equity Partners, as majority shareholder, will add representatives to the Cybera board. Adams Street and Cliff Duffey, Cybera president and founder, will retain significant equity interests and board representation in the company.

    Outgoing CEO Robert Dupuis is retiring and will retain equity interest, as well as serve as adviser to Cybera.

    The Fuels Institute

    The Fuels Institute elected its board of directors, board of advisors and officers for 2015–2017 at its annual meeting in Indianapolis in September.

    Board of directors members are Jay Ricker (chairman), Bob Wimmer (treasurer), Mark DeVries, Matt Forman, Doug Haugh, Steve Loehr, Brian Mandell, Jeff Morris, Ron Sabia, Norman Turiano and Michael Whatley.

    Board of advisors members include all of the board of directors members, as well as Jeremy Bezdek, Norman Herrera, Tom Kloza, Anthony Lambkin, Derek Regal, Robert Stein, Steve Vander Griend and Craig Willis.

    Officers are Ricker as chairman, Wimmer as treasurer and John Eichberger, Fuels Institute executive director, as secretary.

    GreenPrint LLC

    GreenPrint, creator of the world's first carbon neutral gasoline, added Scot Crawford and Megan McCamey to its executive management team. Crawford joins the company as chief financial officer and McCamey steps in as senior vice president of social enterprise and sustainability.

    Crawford brings more than 10 years of experience in the financial services industry, specifically dealing with marketing technology and early stage startups. Most recently, he was CFO for m2M Strategies Inc., a franchise marketing specialist agency. Prior to that, he held various financial positions including controller with GetOne Rewards and senior financial analyst with Cartera Commerce Inc.

    McCamey was tapped to help GreenPrint execute partnerships and strategies enabling companies and their consumers to offset their carbon footprint. She is a 20-year industry veteran in corporate and nonprofit social responsibility, philanthropy and social venture. Previously, she served as senior advisor to the CEO for the global volunteer organization Points of Light. McCamey was also founding president of the Civic Incubator where she led innovation for civic activation through social enterprise, mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures.

    Miami Bay Beverage Co.

    Miami Bay Beverage Co. (MBBC) appointed beverage industry veteran Paul LeBlanc to assist in the expansion of its trimino protein-infused water. LeBlanc becomes the company's new vice president of operations — Northeast region, responsible for spearheading expansion of the brand from Pennsylvania to Maine.

    LeBlanc, who held a variety of senior operations and sales management positions at The Coca-Cola Co. and Coca-Cola Enterprises, will focus on developing the organization and its footprint with distribution and retail partners in the Northeast.

    Since May, MBBC has been working closely with InterContinental Beverage Capital, New York, to finetune its strategy and expand its footprint in the Northeast among select regional and national retailers.

    "We are extremely pleased to be able to identify an executive of Paul's caliber and expect he will have an immediate impact on our business. We were able to do this in very short order because of the guidance and network of our advisors at InterContinental Beverage Capital," said Peter J. Dacey, founder and CEO of MBBC. "Paul brings a wealth of experience and success in the industry in general, but more importantly in New England, where he was vice president of sales and marketing in a local and national capacity from 1996 to 2007."
