NATIONAL REPORT -- CST Brands Inc., parent company of the Corner Store chain in the United States and Dépanneur du Coin stores in Canada, added Denise Incandela to its recently formed board of directors, effective June 3. The company now has a total of 10 board members.

Incandela is executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Saks Fifth Avenue, where she oversees Saks Direct and Saks Fifth Avenue's marketing programs, including advertising, sales promotions, loyalty, digital marketing, social media, customer analytics and market research.

CST Brands' board is chaired by Kim Bowers, the company's president and CEO. CST Brands was spun off from Valero Energy Corp. on May 1, entering the market as the second-largest publicly traded fuel and convenience merchandise retailer in North America.

Chesapeake Energy Corp.
Chesapeake Energy Corp., the No. 2 U.S. natural gas producer, plucked a top executive from rival Anadarko Petroleum Corp. to head its operation. Robert Douglas Lawler, former senior vice president of international and deepwater operations at Anadarko, has filled the post vacated by Chesapeake co-founder Aubrey McClendon in April.

Lawler took over as CEO on June 17. He worked for 25 years at Anadarko and Kerr-McGee, which Anadarko acquired in 2006. The petroleum engineer has experience in both onshore and offshore operations and was mostly recently responsible for big projects, including Anadarko's liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Mozambique.

FIN Branding Group
FIN Branding Group appointed Joe Cipolla as vice president of supply chain. Cipolla is a 20-year veteran with broad-based experience from Campbell Soup Co. and Kraft Foods. In his new role, he oversees the end-to-end supply chain, with responsibility for procurement through distribution and warehousing. He also maintains relationships with FIN's internal partners and vendors.

The company also appointed Joana Martins as vice president of marketing. Martins brings more than 14 years of consumer-focused branding to her new role, including stints at Burger King and Nestle. At FIN, Martins now develops and executes marketing and communication strategies to position FIN's industry leadership.

Lastly, the company appointed Rick Torgalskias as vice president of sales. He has more than 13 years of experience with time spent at Hostess Brands and The Hershey Co. At FIN, he is now focused on leading, developing and growing the national sales, distribution and promotional efforts of FIN Branding Group.

Growth Energy
Growth Energy announced that Jim Miller, a seasoned agricultural policy expert, joined the organization as vice president and chief economist. Miller, a Washington State native, most recently served as senior policy advisor on the Budget Committee under Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.). There, he was the primary advisor and analyst for agricultural policy and trade issues.

Prior to his service on Capitol Hill, Miller was appointed by President Obama and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as the Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agriculture Services at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Additionally, he gained expertise while serving in leadership roles at the National Farmers Union and National Association of Wheat Growers.

Growth Energy also announced the promotion of Michael Frohlich to director of communications. Frohlich joined Growth Energy in May 2012 as press secretary, and will continue to serve as the primary spokesperson and media contact for the organization.

Prior to joining Growth Energy, Frohlich was director of media relations for the National Association of Manufacturers, as well as director of federal communications at the National Biodiesel Board. He is a native of Rochester, N.Y., and earned his bachelor's degree from Gettysburg College.

Marathon Petroleum Corp.
Marathon Petroleum Corp.'s (MPC) board of directors appointed John R. "J.R." Haley, the company's former director of tax, to the newly established position of vice president of tax, effective June 1. He reports to MPC's Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Don Templin.

Haley earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Findlay in 1981 and joined Marathon that same year as a tax analyst. He has taken on increasing responsibilities within the tax organization and became a certified public accountant in 1986. Haley was promoted to tax accounting manager for U.S. Steel in 1992 and returned to Marathon in 1994. He became tax manager in 1996, tax compliance manager in 2004, and international tax accounting manager in 2009. He assumed the position of tax director in July 2011.
