MFA Oil Makes Fourth Acquisition of Its Fiscal Year

COLUMBIA, Mo. — MFA Oil Co. has added the propane operations of Spring Hill Oil Co. to its holdings in Kansas.

The acquisition from Spring Hill Oil, an independent retailer based in Spring Hill, Kan., was effective June 16.

"This acquisition represents another major step into the Kansas market for our company," said Jon Ihler, MFA Oil vice president sales and marketing. "This is our third propane acquisition within the state and we are reviewing additional opportunities in the area. We see the growth of our footprint in Kansas as an important part of our future."

MFA Oil plans to integrate the Spring Hill acquisition with its existing nearby operations. Spring Hill Oil, which has been in business for 39 years, will retain its refined fuel services.

The purchase included a $50,000 donation to The Nathan Project, an organization founded by Spring Hill Oil President Ron Stiles and his wife, Connie. The non-profit was created in honor of the Stiles' late son, Nathan, who suffered fatal brain injuries while playing football during his senior year of high school.

To date, this is the fourth acquisition of MFA Oil's 2017 fiscal year which began Sept.1. Its other deals were the acquisition of Ozark County LP Gas Co. Inc. with locations in Gainesville, Mo., and Mountain Home, Ark.; Keiser Oil and LP Gas Co. of Keiser, Ark; and Ford Oil Co. and its operations in Hornersville and Kennett, Mo.

The company will continue to evaluate acquisition opportunities in its existing market area and new opportunities.

Columbia-based MFA Oil is a farmer-owned energy supply cooperative with more than 40,000 members. MFA Oil is the eighth largest propane retailer in the United States. The company supplies fuels, lubricants and propane to customers in Missouri, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah and Wyoming.
