TravelCenters Serves Up Free Meals to Veterans and Active Duty Military

WESTLAKE, Ohio -- TravelCenters of America LLC served nearly 15,000 free meals to active military personnel and veterans nationwide this Independence Day at participating TA and Petro Stopping Centers.

Leading up to the holiday, TravelCenters invited anyone with proof of service to enjoy a free meal at any of its participating sit-down restaurants nationwide. The complimentary meals were served in honor of the service and sacrifice given by so many men and women who have fought for the United States and its freedoms, according to the company.

Employees at Iron Skillet, Country Pride and the other full-service, home-style restaurants within TA and Petro Stopping Centers got into the spirit by decorating restaurants in red, white, and blue; donning patriotic costumes and T-shirts; and serving cakes frosted to resemble the American flag.

"We are thrilled that the event turned out to be such a resounding success," said Tom O'Brien, president and CEO of TravelCenters of America. "I've heard from so many employees across our locations who said they felt honored to have been able to serve veterans and active military members and to thank them for their service. The day turned out to be much more special for everyone involved than we'd ever imagined."

TravelCenters of America operates 240 locations off interstate highway exits in 41 states and Canada.
