Students Become CEOs for a Day as Part of Kwik Trip Challenge

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Dozens of La Crosse area students became CEOs for the day as they competed in the second annual Junior Achievement Business Challenge hosted by convenience store chain Kwik Trip, according to a report by WKBT La Crosse.

Teams of students from seven high schools paired up with area business leaders to test their knowledge at running a virtual business. The students had to make their own decisions when it came to price, production, marketing, research and development and charitable giving.

Students said the event will help them in whatever career path they choose. "It gives me like a practical plan where I could put my knowledge after I learn how to do statistics or calculus. I can take that knowledge and even if I wanted to start up my own business, it would give me the tools to become a successful CEO someday," Central Senior Nick Garvin said.

The top-performing teams will earn scholarships and advance to the Wisconsin Junior Achievement Business Challenge next month in Sheboygan, Wis., the report stated.
