Road Ranger Selects New POS Platform

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Road Ranger, an unbranded chain of 59 convenience stores and travel centers, based Rockford, Ill. selected Pinnacle’s Palm POS platform.

"The Pinnacle Corp. was chosen based on the company's track record in this market, our responsiveness and commitment to Road Ranger throughout their evaluation process, and our ability to support a number of capabilities and functions not provided by their current POS company," said John Cheneler, vice president of sales at Pinnacle. "Palm POS, in conjunction with Symphony.pos manager for remote management, and Pinnacle’s Loyalty solution, including Loyalink, LoyalDebit and LoyalPay, will provide Road Ranger with tools to be successful in their growth initiatives.

Palm POS offers advanced scanning and an intuitive touch-screen cashier interface, and works with a variety of scanners, printers, pole displays, security cameras, lottery, money order, kitchen video, price sign, car washes and more, the company reported. Nationwide, it is used to process more than $ 10 billion in total convenience store sales and is certified on more than 10 credit payment networks.

Pinnacle's Symphony.pos manager is an enterprise-level solution designed to remotely define and update store level point-of-sale configuration files.

Additionally, Pinnacle's Loyalink, is a flexible loyalty software solution that will enable Road Ranger to reward their customers with an extensive set of promotional options, the company reported.

Road Ranger will also use Pinnacle's LoyalPay, a pre-paid, stored-value card solution, offering retailers the opportunity to sell and support their own branded pre-paid card service. Instead of paying outside network transaction fees to support branded stored value card, retailers can process transactions directly through their own system. With LoyalPay transactions are processed in-house, therefore eliminating interchange or transactions fees that would have incurred by going to an outside provider. Self-hosting also allows for storing and accounting card activity and current card balance.

Finally, Pinnacle's LoyalDebit adds payment capability to traditional, non-payment loyalty cards. Once the LoyalDebit solution is deployed, consumers can register their driver’s license or loyalty card with their bank account and then use that non-payment card as a dual-purpose debit card for payment.
