RaceTrac's Atlanta Braves Partnership Goes Viral

ATLANTA — RaceTrac Petroleum Inc.’s partnership with the Atlanta Braves has reached new levels.

A video from its in-game “Beat the Freeze” promotion on June 16 went viral following a face plant “heard ‘round the world.”

During the mid-inning promotion, a Braves fan races around the warning track against a superhero-esque costumed Braves grounds crew member named Nigel Talton. The fan gets a roughly 200-foot head start. However, this particular fan got a little too cocky near the finish line, waving his arms in expected victory before tripping and face planting.

“I woke up and it’s all over the place and people are calling you and emailing you and texting you,” said Ashleigh Womack, director of communications and partnerships for Atlanta-based RaceTrac. “The external attention has been awesome. … It’s definitely what everyone really wants when they enter into a partnership like this.”

Atlanta-based RaceTrac Petroleum operates 450 convenience stores across Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and Texas.
