QuickChek Goes 50 for 50 in Anniversary Fete

WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. — QuickChek Corp. is going big for the convenience store retailer’s big 5-0.

In celebration of the company’s 50th anniversary, QuickChek is rewarding customers with 10 weeks of five promotional in-store and mobile app offers each week beginning Monday, Feb. 20. The promotion will run through April 30.

"We are thrilled to celebrate 50 years of meeting the needs of our customers," said QuickChek CEO Dean Durling. "While we opened the very first QuickChek store on March 15, 1967, we feel our customers deserve more than a one-day celebration. We have 50 very exciting offers over the next two months covering our extensive menu of fresh food, beverages and on-the-go snack items that we’re sure you’ll enjoy."

Promotions range from free coffee and fountain drinks to buy one, get one offers from QuickChek’s menu of breakfast sandwiches, handcrafted subs, smoothies, hot snacks and packaged goods.

The QuickChek story began in 1888, when Durling Farms was founded to serve the central New Jersey region. Seventy-nine years later in 1967, Carlton C. Durling founded QuickChek to ensure Durling Farms customers had a neighborhood shopping destination for milk, as well as a full range of deli and other food products. On March 15, 1967 the first QuickChek opened in Dunellen, N.J.

Today, QuickChek offers touch-screen technology in its c-stores, enabling customers to create handcrafted, personalized oven-roasted fresh subs, sandwiches, wraps and salads. In addition to its renowned coffee, the retailer’s Q Cafes feature baristas who custom-make more than 60 varieties of handcrafted hot and cold beverages, which are also ordered via touchscreen for customization.

"Our company has been built on total customer dedication and we remain committed to what our customer wants, which is high-quality, great tasting food and beverages close to where they live and work," Durling commented.

Privately-held QuickChek operates 147 convenience stores throughout New Jersey, New York’s Hudson Valley and Long Island. In 2016, QuickChek was named Convenience Store News Foodservice Innovator of the Year, following its 2014 accolade as Hot Beverage Innovator of the Year in the awards program.
