The Pantry Goes to Bat as Babe Ruth Softball Sponsor

CARY, N.C. -- Kangaroo Express, the primary operating banner of The Pantry Inc., has stepped up to the plate for the Babe Ruth Softball Commission by becoming the exclusive convenience store sponsor for the program's upcoming tournament games.

The Alachua County, Fla.-based commission is hosting three tournament games at the Hal Brady Alachua Recreation Complex: X16 Xtreme National Championship, which begins today and runs through July 31; the 12U Babe Ruth Softball World Series, Aug. 1-7; and the X14 Xtreme National Championship, Aug. 8-14.

Softball fans are invited to join Kangaroo Express in celebrating the kickoff of the 12U Babe Ruth Softball World Series on Aug. 1 with fun family games and chances to win prizes, including Kangaroo Express gift certificates and Atlanta Braves baseball tickets, the retailer stated.

"Kangaroo Express will be at the tournaments, joining the local community and fans in cheering on the teams, and we know how those summer temperatures can soar," said Kris Fisher, regional sales director for Kangaroo Express. "We invite all fans to join us at the kickoff celebrations and then cool down with refreshing, ice-cold RooCup refills at any local Kangaroo Express."

In addition, Kangaroo Express will provide coaches and players with a free special loyalty card that unlocks 50-cent frozen and fountain refills through Aug. 28 in their Babe Ruth Commission tournament refillable cup at any participating Kangaroo Express store in the Alachua County area. This is the fourth time Alachua will be hosting Babe Ruth Softball Commission tournament games.

These games mark the final tournaments for the Babe Ruth Softball Commission, a premier softball program designed for girls aged 4 to 18 throughout the United States and Canada. The Babe Ruth Softball World Series is the final tournament for the under-12 age group. The Xtreme National Championships are the final games for the under-16 and under-14 age groups of Xtreme Fastpitch, a new, high-performance softball division.

The Pantry Inc. operates 1,567 c-stores in 13 states.
