Lettieri's Achieves Rapid Growth

BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- Lettieri's Authentic Foods, a manufacturer and distributor of foods for convenience store products, was ranked fourth in the Twin Cities (Minn.) Business Journal as the fastest of the 50 fastest-growing private companies in the Minneapolis-St. Paul region.

"Creating food is my passion," the article quoted Lettieri's president and founder Tino Lettieri as saying. The company has seen a three-year revenue growth of 281.8 percent, and has grown from $3.7 million in 2000 to $13.9 million in 2002, according to the article.

The article described Lettieri's growth by saying, "after originally co-packaging and producing private-label products for food companies such as ConAgra Inc., Michael Foods Inc. and Hormel Foods Corp., Lettieri's Authentic Foods now sells on its own brand name."

Lettieri's Authentic Foods is a company of 75 people with a product line including breakfast sandwiches, baguettes, calzones and lunch sandwiches. According to the owner, the company is on pace to double revenue to $26 million ? much of which will come from new products Lettieri's plans to introduce in 2004. These include its new Wrap Dogs!, Oscar Mayer meats wrapped in Lettieri's authentic breads. "We feel this product will take our business to the next level," Lettieri said in the report.

Lettieri's products are primarily sold in convenience stores including SuperAmerica, Conoco, Holiday and Oasis Markets. The growing company's products are also available in Cub, Rainbow, Kowalski's, Lund's and SuperTarget supermarkets.
