Kwik Trip to Open Another Environmental Store

HOWARD, Wis. -- Kwik Trip is opening a new convenience store here, just northeast of Green Bay, Wis., that is registered with the United States Green Building Council to become a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified building. Certification is expected in 2010.

The convenience store and gasoline station will feature Kwik Trip's own brand of Karuba Coffee Bar and Hot Spot with freshly baked breakfast sandwiches, cheeseburgers, Cheese Mountain pizza, corn dogs and breadsticks, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

The store is open 24 hours, seven days a week. It offers unleaded and diesel fuel and includes a car wash.

According to Steve Loehr, Kwik Trip's vice president of operations support, the chain opened its first LEED-certified store in Oshkosh, Wis., last fall. "All new stores we construct now are registered LEED locations," he told CSNews Online.

Kwik Trip, based in La Crosse, owns more than 380 stores in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa, and has more than 9,000 employees.
