Corner Store & GasBuddy Hosting Monthlong 'Tanksgiving' Event

SAN ANTONIO — Corner Store convenience stores and GasBuddy have come together to launch “Tanksgiving,” a monthlong event in which the companies will give away thousands of gallons of free gas to consumers in cities across the United States.

During “Tanksgiving,” consumers with GasBuddy profiles can receive upwards of $20 worth of free fuel per vehicle at select Corner Store locations.

The first “Tanksgiving” event will take place in Phoenix on Nov. 2, followed by Denver.

“Millions of Americans are making plans this month to visit friends and family. Corner Store and GasBuddy share a commitment to helping people on the road, whether it is fueling up the car or getting a good cup of coffee. This is why we are excited to work together and make this travel season as easy and enjoyable as possible,” said Walt Doyle, CEO of GasBuddy.

Corner Store and GasBuddy partnered last month and gave away free gas to more than 150 residents in Houston.

“Corner Store is excited to team with GasBuddy on this ‘Tanksgiving’ event. With GasBuddy, we will be able to help our loyal Corner Store customers fill up on fuel during the holiday season, and we also look forward to delighting them in our stores with our fresh and friendly offerings,” added Peter Brodnitz, vice president of marketing for Corner Store.

Founded in 2000, GasBuddy is a technology company designed to change the way consumers find, purchase and save money on gasoline. GasBuddy recently rebranded and launched a redesigned mobile app, intended to resemble and function like Yelp, as CSNews Online previously reported.

San Antonio-based CST Brands Inc., parent company of the Corner Store chain, has more than 2,000 convenience stores throughout the Southwestern United States, Georgia, Florida, New York and Eastern Canada. Its U.S. banners are Corner Store, Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes, and Flash Foods.
