C-stores to Honor Veterans With Free Drinks

JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- This Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 7-Eleven and Manley's Mighty Marts will salute those who serve or have served this country by offering them complimentary drinks.

At participating 7-Eleven stores, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., all active, veteran and retired military, and their immediate families, are eligible for a free small Slurpee drink with proof of current or former U.S. military service.

The eight-hour Slurpee event is the centerpiece of a month-long "Operation: Thank You" campaign, which enlists 7-Eleven customers to show their support for U.S. troops by adding a $1 donation to the USO when they check out at participating stores.

Donated funds will be earmarked by the USO for care packages sent to military troops serving overseas. Each care package includes products like beef jerky, trail mix, toiletry items and an AT&T phone card.

Additionally, from Nov. 8 to 12, 7-Eleven has planned for Slurpee trailers to take its frozen carbonated drink to troops and their families stationed at 11 U.S. military bases: Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C.; Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Va.; Naval Station Norfolk in Norfolk, Va.; Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, Va.; Andrews Air Force Base in Camp Springs, Md.; MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla.; Fort Hood Army Base in Killeen, Texas; Fort Carson Army Base in Colorado Springs, Colo.; Marine Corps. Base Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, Calif.; Naval Base San Diego in San Diego, Calif.; and Joint Base Lewis McChord in Tacoma, Wash.

Like 7-Eleven, Manley Mighty Marts is also commemorating Veterans Day. At all of the retailer's locations that sell New England Coffee, veterans are entitled to a free 12-ounce cup of coffee from midnight to midnight. The offer does not include the chain's Dunkin' Donuts locations, according to its website.

Based in Binghamton, N.Y., Manley Mighty Marts has more than 20 convenience stores.
