Arkansas C-stores Begin Growler Sales

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Any store with a retail beer permit –- including convenience stores –- can now sell reusable 32- and 64-ounce beer growlers throughout the state of Arkansas.

Thanks to a new rule that went into effect July 1, consumers have been filling up on fresh beer at the Road Runner convenience store at the intersection of College Avenue and Lafayette Street near downtown Fayetteville, reported the Fayetteville Flyer.

This Road Runner location offers beer from eight taps, via an in-store setup supplied by The Growler Station. Brews offered include a locally-brewed oatmeal stout and a summer seasonal beer from Samuel Adams. Prices for 32-ounce growlers range from $4.99 to $6.99.

Michael Langley, director of Arkansas’ Alcohol Beverage Control Division, told the news source that 15 retailers received permission to offer beer growlers as of Tuesday morning. This list includes four Petro Plus LLC locations and two MAPCO Express Inc. locations.

Prior to implementation of the law on July 1, consumers could purchase growlers in Arkansas. However, they could only fill growlers on-site at local microbreweries.
