VERC Rebrands Landmark Site to Mayflower Provisions

PLYMOUTH, Mass. — VERC Enterprises has rebranded the 40-year-old Mayflower Food & Spirits store here as Mayflower Provisions following its purchase of the landmark site.

VERC President and CEO Leo Vercollone worked with branding firm Scribendi Digital Advertising to develop a new name and logo. "Provisions" was selected to appeal to a wider audience and to better reflect the scope of services and products that Mayflower Provisions offers.

"VERC Enterprises has had a strong presence in Plymouth as well as the surrounding South Shore communities and we're delighted to add Provisions to our VERC family," Vercollone said. "This business has been a mainstay of Plymouth for many years, and in fact we may modify some of our other locations to add some of the services that Mayflower Provisions now offers."

Along with fresh hot meals, sandwiches, a butcher shop, bakery and produce, and a selection of wine, beer and spirits, Mayflower Provisions offers a wide range of grocery and specialty items. VERC has also expanded food offerings to go with its existing deli, homemade pastries and prepared meals. The site also has a Mobil gas station.

The Mayflower Provisions staff of 32 employees includes Chef Tony Andrews, baker Carol Wall and store butcher Curt Carafoli.

Located at 164 South St. in Plymouth, Mayflower Provisions operates from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. New equipment, refrigeration units and a customer transaction counter are already in place, but VERC worked to keep the homey feel that has been a hallmark of the Plymouth establishment, according to the company.

"Over the past few months we have welcomed both former and new customers and look forward to expanding our clientele even more," Vercollone said. "The Plymouth area is a real draw for young families who want to establish roots; we hope that Mayflower Provisions, with its many conventional and unique offerings continues to be that "go to" place for future generations."

Mayflower Provisions will also continue VERC's tradition of hiring individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, two of whom have already been hired.

A grand opening ceremony will be held later this year.

Duxbury-based VERC operates convenience stores and gas stations throughout eastern Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
