Valero's Corner Stores Adding Regional Treats

SAN ANTONIO -- Valero Retail Holdings Inc.'s Corner Store locations with bakeries are now producing Whoopie Pies for sale. These delicious, moist cakes have long been a Northeastern tradition and are now gaining recognition across the country, according to the Texas-based convenience chain.

The Whoopie Pies are baked fresh, with chocolate or vanilla cream cake batter creating a moist top and bottom. The delicious layers are then filled with buttercream icing. The treat eats like a cake, but looks like a cookie sandwich. Valero said its new Whoopie Pies are "a classic dessert that brings back the nostalgia of homemade comfort food."

Based in San Antonio, Valero is among the largest retail operators with roughly 5,800 retail and branded wholesale outlets in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean under the Valero, Diamond Shamrock, Shamrock, Ultramar and Beacon brands.
