UPDATE: Registers Ringing at New Rutter's Farm Store

YORK, Pa. -- With the cutting of the ribbon, the new Rutter's Farm Store in Fayetteville officially opened for business this week.

The new 5,200-square-foot convenience store is located at 6827 Lincoln Way East, in "a great spot in a vibrant area of the state," said Scott Hammer, president and CEO, in a news video.

He noted the company is especially proud of the "green" elements that went into the store. "We're really trying to keep changing with the times and this store represents all the things we have been working on through the years," he added.

The new store is one of the greenest construction efforts to date by the company based in Manchester Township. "Building with the environment in mind isn’t the easy thing to do, but it is the right thing to do,” said Tim Rutter, president of M&G Realty, the real estate company behind all Rutter's Farm Stores.

CSNews Online reported in April, the new location was designed with environmentally friendly elements, including a white reflective roof, triple-glazed windows, LED lighting, skylights, extra insulation, and water reclamation systems in the car wash. In addition to going green, Rutter's also went local: many of the building materials were manufactured or harvested within 500 miles of the store.

The new store will have eight gas pumps, a dedicated diesel fueling facility behind the store for tractor trailers and a two-bay automatic car wash. Four of the right pumps will offer diesel fuel, the news outlet added. Inside, the Rutter's Farm Store will feature a restaurant -- with menu selections that include stir fry dishes, and fresh baked sub and ciabatta rolls -- with touch-screen ordering. It will also boast seven televisions, restaurant seating for 11, a premium coffee island and public rest rooms.
