United Cooperative to Install Blender Pumps at 11 Cenex Stores

IRON RIDGE, Wis. -- United Cooperative is installing 11 flex-fuel blender pumps at its Cenex convenience stores in south-central Wisconsin. Thirty-six ethanol flex-fuel blender pumps and seven biodiesel dispensers will be installed at the 11 locations.

According to the Beaver Dam Daily Citizen, five Wisconsin United Cooperative c-stores have already installed flex-fuel pumps: Iron Ridge, Pickett, Poynette, Reedsburg and Wyocena. The Watertown, Wis., location will install blender pumps by the end of June.

The blender pumps offer traditional petroleum as well as ethanol blends directly from the pump. E15 up to E85 is available. "The renovations to all 11 convenience stores will be completed by the 2012 year end," said Greg Adkins, United Cooperative convenience store division supervisor, in a company news release. "It takes about two to three weeks per site to complete the overhaul. Two locations in Baraboo and one in Hartford are still in the planning stages; however, within the next few months, Beaver Dam, Hustisford, and Watertown will be completed and able to offer customers more options. Our flex-fuel blender pumps let the consumer decide what they want to put in their vehicle based on type and age of vehicle, price, and performance."

To help ease United Cooperative's financial burden to install the flew-fuel pumps, it was selected to receive a $448,500 Rural Energy for America Program grant.

Formed in 1936, United Cooperative is a full-service cooperative offering feed, grain, agronomy, and energy products and services to Wisconsin farmers and consumers.
