Stripes Raises $456,000 for Children's Miracle Network

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -- Stripes convenience stores raised a total of $456,000 for children's hospitals during its fundraising campaign March 8 to April 4, in all 521 stores across Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma, the company reported.

Stripes asked customers to purchase a $1 Miracle Balloon icon to raise funds for Children's Miracle Network, a children's charity that raises funds for more than 170 pediatric hospitals.

The icons were attached to coupons, providing customers an additional incentive to make the $1 purchase, and funds raised exceeded Stripes 2009 total of $386,686 by almost 18 percent, according to the company.

"These amazing results are a reflection of the generosity of our customers and our team members who deeply care about children's health," Steve DeSutter, Stripes president and CEO, said in a released statement. "Stripes store team members put a lot of intensity into these fundraising campaigns because they understand the positive impact that our participation brings to our communities. We are very proud of them as again they have set another all time high in this year's Children's Miracle Network campaign."

Like all Children's Miracle Network fundraisers, the funds raised from Stripes' four-week campaign will help create miracles by funding medical care, research and education that saves and improves the lives of 17 million children treated at Children's Miracle Network hospitals each year, according to the charity.

In other Children's Miracle Network news, the charity is teaming with Speedway SuperAmerica for its 19th Annual Speedway SuperAmerica LLC Miracle Tournament at the Miracle Monte Carlo Tent, May 16, 2010 -- a chance to play golf at NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio, voted among Golf Digest's Top 100 courses in the nation. Proceeds from the event will go to support Children's Miracle Network.
