Stewart's Shops Notches Busy 2016 With $50M Investment

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — New York-based convenience store chain Stewart's Shops wrapped up a busy 2016, with no plans on slowing down.

According to the retailer, over the past year it invested $50 million in projects, including six new convenience stores, 10 replacement stores and 20 major remodels. Stewart's Shops also performed "dozens of other additions and improvements."

This month, Stewart's Shops is marking the grand openings of several newly rebuilt locations: Broadalbin and Sherburne on Jan. 6; Middleburgh on Jan. 7; and Schenectady on Jan. 13. 

The replacement stores occupy larger footprints, which provide for greater selection of easy food items, including freshly made pizza by the pie and the slice, made-to-order subs, a beer cave, additional seating, as well as expanded parking and fuel service.

The retailer is also putting the finishing touches on its new c-store in Malta, which will mark the company's 50th location in Saratoga County. The store is slated to welcome customers on Jan. 11, with details on a grand opening to follow.
