Shell Brings Back $aver Card Promotion

HOUSTON -- Starting yesterday through Dec. 31, Shell Oil is bringing back its popular 5-cent-per-gallon gas discount on all Shell-branded gasoline and diesel purchases with the Shell $aver Card, a non-credit product that acts like a debit card and links directly to an existing checking account.

"When it comes to saving on everyday purchases, we see consumers making a 'shift to thrift' while looking for ways to get the most out of their methods of payment," Mark Theobald, US Consumer Cards, Shell Oil Products US, said in a statement.

The promotional offer is available at all Shell-branded stations nationwide from Sept. 28 to Dec. 31, and is applicable for new and existing customers. Card earnings are only applicable to gasoline and diesel purchases, but the card can be used for any purchases at Shell-branded stations except lottery tickets. Additionally, the Shell $aver Card was designed to only be used with PIN-based (Personal Identity Number) transactions, so if the card is lost or stolen, no one can use it without the owner's private PIN.

Consumers who apply for the Shell Saver Card must have an active checking account in good standing to qualify. After the Dec. 31 promotion end date, cardholders will continue to earn two cents per gallon off with their Shell $aver Card. Consumers may go online to apply, or pick up an inactive card at a Shell-branded station and start the online application process at www.shellsavercard.com.

Houston-based Shell Oil Products US is a subsidiary of Shell Oil Co., with a network of approximately 6,100 Shell-branded gasoline stations in the Western United States.
