Sheetz Among Best Places to Work in Pa. for 10th Year in a Row

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sheetz Inc. has been named one of 2011's 100 Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania for the 10th straight year, becoming one of only three companies to receive the honor that many times in a row. The statewide employer recognition program, which was created in 2000 and is managed by Best Companies Group, is co-sponsored by the Pennsylvania Foundation, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, and the Central Penn Business Journal.

"Receiving this type of recognition is particularly important to us because the most significant piece of the rating comes directly from our employees who were independently surveyed and asked to rate our company as a place to work," said Sheetz President and CEO Stan Sheetz. "The fact that this is the 10th year in a row that our employees have rated us so highly says a lot about our culture and the spirit of teamwork and respect that exists throughout our company, from top management to our employees who directly serve our customers."

Companies across the state participated in a two-part process. The first step, worth 25 percent of the total score, was to evaluate each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophies, systems and demographics. The second step, worth 75 percent, consisted of an employee survey designed to measure employee experience.

A Best Places to Work awards ceremony for the winners will take place Dec. 1 at the Lancaster County Convention Center in Lancaster, Pa. The individual company rankings will be revealed then.

Sheetz has also been recognized as a Best Place to Work in Ohio, Virginia and North Carolina.
