Senior Management Change at ConocoPhillips

HOUSTON -- ConocoPhillips promoted Stephen R. Brand, the vice president of exploration and business development for the company's Exploration and Production unit, to the position of senior vice president of technology, effective Oct. 1, the company stated.

In his new role, Brand will report to Jim Mulva, chairman and chief executive officer for ConocoPhillips.

Brand began his career with Phillips Petroleum Co. in 1976 as a geologist for exploration and production, according to ConocoPhillips' Web site. In 1980, he transferred to Denver to be a geologist for the minerals group. Two years later, Brand was named supervisor of North America Exploration and Production in Houston, the Web site stated.

Then, in 1989, he transferred to Bartlesville, Okla., to serve as staff director for Exploration and Production, a role he held until 1992. Three years later, Brand served as Canada region manager of North American Exploration and Production, according to the Web site. During that time, he was also president of Phillips Petroleum Resources Ltd., and served as Exploration and Production business development manager for the company.

In 1998, Brand was named general manager of the company's Australia division. With the ConocoPhillips merger in 2002, Brand became president of the Australasia division, then was named to his former role in 2005.
