Rutter's Names First Winner in Summer Gas Giveaway

YORK, Pa. -- Expensive fuel prices may have many motorists singing the blues this year, but do not count Angela Gilbert of Marietta, Pa., among them. She was named the first winner of free gas for a year in Rutter's Farm Stores' Summer Gas Giveaway.

The contest began May 23 and will reward two people per month. The promotion, which will ultimately name eight winners, ends in September. Registered Rutter's Rewards cardholders not only earn cents-off-per gallon fuel rewards with qualifying purchases, but they are also automatically entered into the Summer Gas Giveaway prize drawing every time they scan their card and purchase that month's qualified items.

"The great thing about this contest is that even if you don't win the grand prize, purchasing these items and scanning your card still earns you cents-off-per-gallon at the pump," said Robert Perkins, vice president of marketing for Rutter's. "Everybody wins."

Gilbert said both she and her husband stop at Rutter's at least once every day to get coffee. "I have about a 90-minute round-trip commute [to Hershey, Pa.]. This is going to be a big help with that," she said.
