Rutter's Goes Green

YORK, Pa. -- The 51-unit Rutter's Farm Stores chain is looking to add some green into its yellow and red logo, with the launch of the Win Green Design Contest, which encourages entrants to design a unique, new bottle-and-can recycling bin to be placed in front of the chain convenience stores, the company stated.

The contest -- which runs now through Jan. 20 and will award the winner with a $500 Rutter's gift card -- is part of a list of steps the company is undergoing to make its stores more environmentally friendly. Other steps on the list include installing more efficient light bulbs, recycling frying oils for biofuel use, and installing white roofs on new stores.

There is no limit to the number of designs one person may submit to the contest, the company stated.

Brochures with complete rules will be available at
Rutter's stores starting today and on the company's Web site, www.rutters.com.

Entries can be mailed or dropped off at the company's corporate office in York, Pa., in envelopes marked "Rutter's Farm Stores -- Win Green."
