Rhodes Launches College Internship Program

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Rhodes Convenience Stores is going back to school.

The retailer has officially launched Rhodes for the Summer, an internship program that allows participants to explore multiple disciplines within the business, rather than just one area of study, the Southeast Missourian reported.

The program’s first two interns are Haleigh Knapp and Christina Niedbalski, who are spending the summer rotating weekly between the store management, human resources, finance, information technology, business operations, and marketing departments learning what is required to seamlessly operate a successful business, according to the company. Each department will propose project ideas that the interns can choose from to create and execute within the final weeks of the program.

“Rhodes is committed to creating a learning environment for our interns that not only highlights what an amazing culture we have, but allows our interns to have a truly hands on leadership experience,” stated Director of Human Resources Zenna Gustafson, the driving force behind the new internship program.

Knapp is a student at Eastern Illinois University, and Niedbalski attends the University of Missouri – Columbia. Both interns are seeking a degree in Business Marketing.

Cape Girardeau-based Rhodes operates 29 convenience stores throughout Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois.
