SOUTH BEND -- Customers of Martin's Super Market in South Bend, Ind. will soon have the opportunity to buy gasoline there. The city Common Council approved a rezoning request Monday that allows for the installation of several gasoline pumps.

City officials said the facility will not be a full-service gas station, nor have a convenience store. It will have gas pumps and a small, 10-by-20-foot attendant station where small items, like cigarettes, will be sold, according to the South Bend (Ind.) Tribune.

As part of the project, Martin's will give up a small strip of land on the east side of the property so that the city can widen Ironwood and install a left turn lane for northbound traffic.

Martin's also will install landscaping for screening and redirect lighting for the project away from condominiums, just north of the supermarket.
