QuikTrip's CEO Goes Back to School

TULSA, Okla. The manager of hundreds of convenience stores got a lesson in managing dozens of teenagers Tuesday.

QuikTrip CEO Chet Cadieux spent his morning yesterday at Jenks Alternative School in Tulsa serving as the school's first guest principal, part of a program launched by The Jenks Public Schools Foundation to bridge the gap between the public education sector and the business community, according to the Oklahoma News.

Cadieux, who took over as CEO of QuikTrip last year, spent his morning shadowing the alternative school's staff. He visited each class, talking to students and teachers.

The goal is to expose community and business leaders to the successes and the challenges of public education, and to encourage partnerships to fill the gaps left from the budget crisis.

Cadieux said he was impressed with the school and the students. "These kids are working hard and some are catching up and some are getting ahead and one way or another they're learning what they need to learn to have a productive life," he said.

Laurie Applekamp, president of the Jenks Foundation, said Cadieux had a strong influence on the students. "We feel very fortunate that he took time out of his schedule to come here," she said. "It's important that we have leaders that are supporting the foundation and what we're doing."
