QuikTrip Debuts Non-Fuel Store

ATLANTA — QuikTrip Corp. opened its first convenience store without fuel stations on June 23 at the intersection of Peachtree Street and 6th Street in Atlanta, reported Curbed Atlanta. The new store operates in the retail space of Viewpoint condominiums.

The 3,500-square-foot c-store offers a range of grocery items and fresh food through QuikTrip's QT Kitchens concept. It will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"We are excited to bring our newest store concept to Atlanta and think this is the perfect location to debut our first non-fuel store in many years," said Chet Cadieux, QuikTrip Chairman and CEO. "We feel this will provide the convenience that residents in Midtown desire, as well as give them a fast and delicious option for fresh, made-to-order food and beverages from our QT Kitchen."

The gas station-free store is the first for QuikTrip in nearly 30 years, when the company reportedly tested a similar store concept in Tulsa, Okla., as CSNews Online previously reported. It is currently the only fuel-free test location, but is part of QuikTrip's long-term strategy to grow and serve non-traditional market segments, company officials said.

"We recognize the world which we live in is changing," stated Mike Thornbrugh, manager of public and government affairs for QuikTrip, told What Now Atlanta in March. "More and more people are moving back into the urban core, and there aren't a lot of options for people inside the city as far as convenience stores go."

QuikTrip operates more than 700 convenience stores in 11 states. Atlanta is its largest market with 127 stores.
